Shalome Orton: Executive Director

Shalome became Executive Director in September 2018.  Shalome has a degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Utah. Go Utes!   Shalome has worked with children for over twenty-five years! She spent many years working in the field of Early Childhood and is excited to now be working with school age children.  She is passionate about inclusion, acceptance and the individual success of every child.

Shalome enjoys the diversity of the children at the Sandy Club and the relationships she gets to build with them and their families.  She hopes to continue the legacy of the founder of the club by loving every child, giving them the tools they need to be successful, supporting families, and giving children a safe and creative environment for them to thrive in after school.

Shalome has three adult children, two adorable dogs and a husband of almost 28 years!  She loves gardening, reading, camping and watching super-hero movies.

Jane Van: Assistant Director

Jane began working at The Sandy Club as the Assistant Director in February 2019. Prior to her work as the Assistant Director, Jane worked as a Coordinator for the Salt Lake School District After-School program from 2012-2019. Jane currently attends Salt Lake Community College and is pursuing a degree in Family Science.

Jane enjoys working at the Club because she is passionate about working with children. She hopes to inspire children to become whatever they put their minds to by creating a safe environment with engaging activities and creativity. She hopes to motivate children to build healthy relationships, have exposure to new experiences and to enjoy being a child by attending the Sandy Club. 

Jane and her husband have two children, one son and one daughter. During her free time, Jane enjoys snowboarding, traveling, baking and spending her time with family. 

Dayana Diaz: Office Assistant

Dayana began working at The Sandy Club as the Office Assistant in February 2021. Prior to her work as the Office Assistant, Dayana worked as the Club Staff. Dayana currently attends The University of Utah and is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.

Dayana enjoys working at the Club because she enjoys working with the kids and getting to know each and every one of them! Dayana hopes to be a great resource to the kids–she just wants to help in anyway she can so the kids can become the wonderful people they are meant to be.

In her free time, Dayana enjoys watching movies of all types of genres. Dayana also enjoys spending time with her family and close friends.
